Honoring What Serves Us
In a world overflowing with advice and tried-and-true methods, we’re often told what we should do by experts, influencers, or even our closest friends. But following these “shoulds” without first checking in with ourselves can lead to frustration or self-doubt.
We may find ourselves pushing through actions that feel misaligned, merely because they worked for someone else. Instead, there’s a tremendous value in noticing what truly serves us—trusting our inner compass rather than leaning on external expectations.
The concept of listening to our bodies and tuning into our inner wisdom can be transformative. Each of us as a unique “frequency” of energy, vibrating at our own pitch. Just as food or exercise routines resonate differently for each person, so too do the strategies and approaches we use in life, whether for personal growth, wellness, or professional development.
What feels good and aligns with who we are today might not have the same effect tomorrow. And what works beautifully for someone else may not feel right for us.
When we can identify what genuinely resonates, we unlock a sustainable source of energy and motivation. For instance, rather than adopting someone’s morning routine verbatim because it’s “the key to success,” what if we explored which rituals actually help us feel present and energized in the morning?
This could mean drinking tea instead of coffee, taking five minutes of mindful breathing instead of an hour-long workout, or even indulging in extra sleep on certain days. By noticing what serves us, we begin to honor our unique rhythms rather than imposing arbitrary standards.
This approach doesn’t mean we ignore useful advice or never try new things. It simply invites us to filter external input through our personal lens of needs and intuition. We can try something out and ask: How does this feel in my body? Does this approach make me feel more energized, or does it feel like a burden? These questions empower us to discern what feels supportive and what doesn’t.
As we grow and evolve, our needs may change. We might discover that what worked for us a year ago no longer serves us today. That’s not a sign of failure or inconsistency; it’s a sign of growth.
As our frequency shifts, so will the practices, routines, and ideas that resonate with us. Remaining open to this fluidity and trusting our own sensations and responses are crucial to living a fulfilling and balanced life.
So, let’s take a step back from the “shoulds” and external validation. Let’s start listening to what feels right, allowing our bodies and minds to guide us towards what genuinely serves us.
This journey is about honoring our individuality, welcoming the shifts, and finding value in what truly resonates as we give ourselves, permission to be our full selves.
